Graham Crackers

Finally we can stop making smores using digestive biscuits and make the real thing from scratch! The best part is that these crackers are made from whole wheat flour!

INGREDIENTS

  • Whole wheat flour - 140g
  • Brown sugar - 85g
  • Cinnamon powder - 1g
  • Baking soda - 1g
  • Salted butter - 50g
  • Milk - 25ml
  • Honey - 45g
  • Vanilla essence - 2ml
METHOD
  1. Add milk, vanilla and honey to a bowl and whisk to form a homogeneous mixture.
  2. In another bowl, mix the whole wheat flour, brown sugar, baking soda and cinnamon powder until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  3. Add the cold, chopped butter to the dry ingredients and rub the mixture using your fingertips to form a breadcrumb like texture.
  4.  Add the milk and honey mixture to the dry ingredients and knead to form a soft and slightly sticky dough.
  5. Roughly shape the dough to form a slab.
  6. Wrap the dough slab in parchment paper and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  7. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree C.
  8. Generously dust your workspace with flour and start rolling the dough.
  9.  Stop rolling the dough once it has reached a thickness of 3 to 4 mm.
  10. Cut the dough sheet into any shapes that you desire.
  11.  Place the crackers onto a baking tray lined with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  12. Bake the crackers at 180 degree C for 8 to 9 minutes.
  13. Once the crackers are baked, allow them to cool completely on the tray before transferring them into another container.
  14. The crackers may be soft at first, right out of the oven. They will firm up as they cool down.
  15.  Serve and enjoy!

Happy Baking!
